Hilary Welsh Résumé

I am a qualified psychotherapist with an Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy. I have conducted research on growing up in environments of conflict and violence and the effect on sense of identity.

I have experience of working in different communities; as a youth-worker for OCC Youth and Community Service, as a support worker in a disabilities trust supporting adults with Autism and as Group Psychotherapist of a Greencare Therapy Group that served people with a diagnosis of emotionally unstable personality disorder (EUPD) and complex mental health issues.

I am a Deaf and Disabled ally and have insight into Deaf and Disabled issues, hardships and Ableism.

I have lived abroad in varied environments that have contributed to my experience in working across cultures.

Employment History

2014-date I have an established private psychotherapy practice in Sonning Common.   

2016-2018 Director of Growing Better Lives (GBL), which was a Community Interest Company that developed and researched innovative approaches to mental health care.  I was Group Psychotherapist for a Greencare Therapy Group for people with diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD) and people with complex mental health issues.

2015-2017 I held an Honorary Contract with Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in capacity of Psychotherapist based at ASSIST Team at Upton Hospital working in the EMBRACE Group in Slough.

2014-2017 I volunteered one day per week at Riverside Counselling Service, a charitable counselling service in Henley on Thames and surrounding areas.  I was also an Assessing Psychotherapist and member of the Allocations Team.

2014-2016 Associate Psychotherapist with Anchor Counselling Service, Harley Street in the Reading site at the Rosedale Clinic.

2012-2014 I volunteers as a counsellor with ARC a counselling organisation in Wokingham.

2008-2009 Qualified Support Worker for The Disabilities Trust.

2004-2008 Youth-worker and subsequently Managed a youth club for 14-16-year-olds.  I developed the club from one general evening per week to three club nights for age groups 11-13, 14-15 and 16-19 year-olds.

I am Registered Member 183508 of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am committed to following the BACP professional code of ethics.
